Barbie: Game Girl is a girl-oriented Game Boy game that has a title screen with background music that reminds of the player of an instrumental version of an early 1990s pop music tune. Unlike most Barbie games, this game is a straight platform game rather than a simulation of the life of a female fashion model. There's a shopping mall level, an underwater level reminiscent of Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid, and other cool worlds to explore. This game is recommender for children ages 3 and up and should be enjoyed in the 21st century with a bit of bubblegum music playing in their CD player in order for today's young female players to drown out their "mother's music."
