| Barry Guy (born 1947 in London) is a British composer and performer on the double bass. His range of interest encompasses early music and contemporary composed music, and he has worked with a wide variety of orchestras in the UK and Europe. He also taught at Guildhall School of Music. In the early 1970s, he was a member of the influential free improvisation group Iskra 1903 with Derek Bailey and trombonist Paul Rutherford. He is also known for composing avant garde classical music, including works with graphic scores, such as Witch Gong Game inspired by images by the visual artist Alan Davie. He is married to the early music performer Maya Homberger. They now live in Ireland.
