Brian Random was born in Toronto, Ontario on September 11, 1974. He has lived in Mississauga, Georgetown and Brampton, Ontario, and as of 2005, back in Toronto.

Random has composed experimental electronic music under the name Child At Zoo and made several short films. His work has been criticised in the Brampton Guardian and the Toronto Star.

As of 2005, he is engaged in production for a film about Brampton, entitled "Twelve Fake Lakes And A Garbage Mountain".
