Carl Otto Ehrenfried Nicolai (June 9, 1810 - May 11, 1849) was a German composer and conductor. He is best known for his operatic version of Shakespeare's comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor, which goes by the German title of Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor. In addition to five operas, Nicolai composed works for orchestra and for chorus, and lieder for voice and piano (with some charming duets).List of operas#Rosamonda d'Inghilterra (1839) #Il Templario (1840) #Odoardo e Gildippe (1841) #Die Heimkehr des Verbannten (1844) #Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor (1849)Nikolai, Carl Otto Nikolai, Carl Otto Nikolai, Carl Otto Nikolai, Carl Otto Nikolai, Carl Otto da:Otto Nicolai de:Otto Nicolai fr:Otto Nicolai ja:オットー・ニコライ pt:Carl Otto Nicolai fi:Carl Otto Nicolai zh:奥托·尼古拉 [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Carl Otto Nicolai ] Some related entries: Joe Chithalen | Shiri Maimon | Scott Dibble | Lepo Sumera | Changing Partners | Carl Michael Bellman | Amy Wadge | Kevin Aviance | Pierre Van Dormael | Native Guns | Ole Bull This page is based on the copyrighted Wikipedia article Carl Otto Nicolai; it is used under the GNU Free Documentation License.
