Carter Nice is a U.S. orchestra conductor and music director.

For more than two decades, Carter Nice has been music director and conductor at the annual Bear Valley Music Festival in Tuolumne County, California. Also a guest conductor who has appeared with orchestras around the world, Nice was from 1979 to 1992 the music director of the Sacramento Symphony in Sacramento, California. He was previously concertmaster of the Florida Symphony Orchestra and the New Orleans Philharmonic.

Nice began his professional career at age 12 as a violinist with the Jacksonville Symphony in Jacksonville, Florida. He holds music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and the Eastman School of Music.

Nice lives in Sacramento with wife Jennifer Smith, a television news anchor, and their daughter, Olivia.

Carter Nice can be seen in the PBS Nature video Animals Behaving Badly, in a piece about San Francisco sea lions.
