Chan Tze Law is a Singaporean violinist, conductor and pedagogue. He is the Music Director of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Orchestra.

A former student of British conductor and scholar Norman Del Mar, Mr. Chan has made conducting appearances with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra. He has worked extensively with youth orchestras in Singapore and the region, for which he is widely recognized.

A recipient of the prestigious Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music scholarship, Mr. Chan graduated from the Royal College of Music in London, where his violin professors included noted orchestral leaders Hugh Bean and John Ludlow, and conducting professors John Forster and Christopher Adey. A further stint with noted Australian conductors Richard Gill and Peter Moore led to his professional debut conducting Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas as well as the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra.

A violinist with the Singapore Symphony since 1984, Mr. Chan assumed the position of Orchestral Affairs Manager in 2000 and led the orchestral management team for the past two and a half years. He was responsible for the Symphony's successful move to the new Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay in 2003 and is still active in its education, outreach and marketing committees.

Mr. Chan is a founding member of the Chamber Circle, a chamber music group noted for its programming and dynamic performances of the classical and romantic chamber repertoire. As artistic administrator of the refreshed SSO Chamber Ensemble series, he programmed the 2003 series with repertoire ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach to John Cage.

Mr. Chan has long been associated with the string orchestra movement in Singapore. Under his direction, the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) Chamber Orchestra emerged with gold awards at the 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging. The Anglo Chinese Junior College String Ensemble also obtained a Gold Award at the 2003 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging.

He also initiated and conducted the Annual Combined Schools String Camp in 1997, where top string players from all schools came together to explore major string repertoire in detail. He has conducted the Singapore Youth Orchestra and led the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in outreach and season finale concerts. He recently conducted the Singapore Lyric Opera in a production of Englebert Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel.
