Chris Slade (born October 30, 1946, in Pontypridd, Wales) is a rock drummer who has enjoyed a long and varied career. He has worked with such diverse musicians as Gary Numan, Tom Jones, Uriah Heep, and Manfred Mann's Earth Band from 1972 to 1978. In the early 1980s, Slade joined The Firm.

He probably received his highest exposure in 1989 when then-drummer Simon Wright departed AC/DC. The Young brothers (Angus and Malcolm) initially hired Slade only temporarily, then asked him during the recording of the only feature album he made with them, to join the band AC/DC. The brothers, however, asked Slade to leave four years later and reinstated Rudd claiming that Rudd had demonstrated a "groove" more fitting their style of rock. Angus Young was heard saying" Chris was probably the best musician in the band. We hate to lose him, but getting Phil back is worth asking him to leave." The desire for AC/DC to join back with Rudd was the reason Slade left the band. Slade played on the succssful The Razor's Edge album and tour. After his departure, Slade spent a few years living in the UK countryside before receiving a call from Geoff Downes from the group Asia. Chris later departed from Asia in September 2005 after six years and a couple of recordings with the group.

He is working on a new album with British power trio "Damage Control" in 2006, featuring bassist Pete Way of UFO and guitarist Robin George.

There is also a former NFL player named Chris Slade, who had played for the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers.
