| Cliff Williams (born December 14, 1949) is the bassist in the Australian rock band AC/DC. Cliff was born in Romford, Essex, but at the age of nine, moved to Liverpool with his family. By 1970, Cliff's band Home had earned a record deal with Epic Records. An LP, titled Pause For A Hoarse Horse was released. Cliff left the band in 1974 to form Bandit, which released a self-titled LP under Arista, but failed to make a huge impact. In 1977, Cliff received a call from AC/DC, who was in need of a bassist after the departure of Mark Evans. Cliff accepted, and recorded Powerage the same year. He usually plays a 4-string Music Man Stingray bass. He is also the only one of AC/DC who is over 6 feet tall.
