Colleen Ka-Ling Lee (李嘉齡) - Pianist

In October 2005, Colleen was awarded the Sixth Prize in the 15th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition and became the first Hong Kong pianist to reach the final of this prestigious competition.

Her performances for the upcoming season will include a Concert Tour with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan. Arranged by the Pro Musicis Foundation, Colleen will perform in New York, Cambridge in Massachusetts, and Paris in early 2006. She will give her debut recitals in in Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Hague and Amsterdam in Holland in March 2006 under the “New Master on Tours Series” of The International Holland Music Sessions.

Her competition experience and success are impressive. The more recent awards include: the Pro Musicis International Award Winner for 2005, the Third Place, as well as the Critic Prize and Audience Prize at the 15th International Competition for Piano and Orchestra in Cant•, Italy in May 2005, the First Prize at the 3rd Seiler International Piano Competition in Kitzingen, Germay in 2003 and the Winner of the 2003 Dorothy Mackenzie Artist Recognition Award.

Born in Hong Kong, Colleen was trained locally at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutelage of Ms Eleanor Wong. Since 2003 she has been studying at The Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hannover with a scholarship in the class of professor Arie Vardi . In the same year, she made her debut in the Carnegie Hall. As a soloist, Colleen has collaborated with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra among others.
