Cris Williamson is an American singer/songwriter and teacher, born in 1947 in Deadwood, South Dakota. She graduated from the University of Denver.

During a radio interview in Washington, D.C. in 1974, she made the suggestion that someone should form an all-women's record company. That company was founded the very next day, and came to be known as Olivia Records. Olivia issued Williamson's The Changer and the Changed album, which became one of the best-selling independent releases of all time.

She went on to record more than a dozen more albums with Olivia, and then formed her own record company, Wolf Moon Records, once Olivia stopped producing records. She recorded two albums with her long-time producer and partner, Tret Fure, but the two of them split up in 2000, and each now records as a solo artist.

Williamson has also recorded albums with Meg Christian, another well-known women's music artist, and Teresa Trull. Williamson is also friends with musician Bonnie Raitt, who has played on some of her albums.
