Musicians - DJ Code Money

DJ Code Money was the DJ for noted 80s rap artist Schoolly D. The Philadelphia-based partnership released their first single in 1985, with "P.S.K. (What Does That Mean?)" With hypnotic beats, rough scratching and Schoolly's unflinching tales of the Park Side Killers (with lines such as "'I said 'You sucka-ass nigger, I should shoot you dead'"), this single is widely viewed as the first gangsta rap record. Without the significant contributions of DJ Code Money's stark turntablism, however, this classic single would have lacked its unique claustrophobia. Follow-up efforts, such as "Gucci Time" (famously sampled by the Beastie Boys
on "Time To Get Ill"), "Put Your Filas On." and "Saturday Night" are also pivotal and groundbreaking 80s hip hop singles.
