Musicians - Damhnait Doyle

Damhnait Doyle (born December 9, 1975 in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada) is a Canadian pop singer from Newfoundland and Labrador. Her first name is pronounced "davnet", which also serves as the title of her most recent album.

Doyle took singing, guitar and clarinet lessons as a child, and released her debut album, Shadows Wake Me, in 1996. The lead single, "A List of Things", was a hit on the Canadian pop charts, and the album garnered a Juno award nomination and several East Coast Music Awards nominations for Doyle.

In 2000, Doyle released her follow-up album, Hyperdramatic. She scored another pop hit with "Tattooed", which had a particularly memorable video featuring Doyle dismembered and slowly trying to reassemble her scattered body parts. In 2001, Doyle won four ECMA's, including video of the year and female artist of the year.

In 2003, Doyle's third album, davnet, was released. As well, later in the year she joined forces with two other Canadian pop singers, Kim Stockwood
and Tara Maclean, in the pop group Shaye, who released their debut album, The Bridge, in October of that year.

In Christmas of that year, she acompanied the troops on the Christmas special Rick Mercer's Christmas in Kabul.
