Musicians - Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones (born 22 July 1973, Essex, United Kingdom) was one half of the Australian pop duo Savage Garden. When Jones was about 18 years old he was in a band called Red Edge with his brother and some friends but the band needed a singer. Daniel Jones put an advertisement in the local Brisbane music paper Time Off, looking for a suitable singer. Darren Hayes was one of the people showing up at the audition and he got the job. After being in the band for some time, Hayes got tired of performing other people's songs and he was ready to quit Red Edge and since Daniel Jones wanted to create his own music, he made the difficult decision of leaving the band together with Darren Hayes. This marked the beginning of Savage Garden. The other half of the pair, Darren Hayes, performed all of the vocals whilst Jones mostly provided instrumental backing. Hayes and Jones wrote and performed all of their own music and had a global hit with "Truly Madly Deeply" in 1998. The duo eventually split up in 2001.

Today, Daniel Jones has his own production company, being a successful producer and songwriter and living happily in Australia, close to family and friends and a bit more out of the spotlight, just the way he prefers it. Jones married his long-time girlfriend, Kathleen de Leon, a member of successful children's group Hi-5, in October, 2005. They have now confirmed that Kathleen is pregnant with their first child, and is due to give birth in August 2006.
