Dr. David Banney is an Australian conductor.

Residing in Newcastle (NSW), Newcastle, Australia Dr. Banney is the conductor of the European Medical Students Orchestra, Newcastle Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of Hunter Sinfonia and Director of Hunter Strings, a youth string orchestra. Described by the great English conductor Vernon Hanley as being "...easily among the best half-dozen young conductors that I have encountered in the forty years of my career...", Dr. Banney is also the winner of the 1995 ABC-Westfield Australian Young Conductor of the Year Award and the winner of the ABC Young Composers Competition. He has conducted the EMSO since 1999 and the three Newcastle orchestras since taking up his position at the Conservatorium of Newcastle in 2001. In addition to his conducting, viola and violin careers, Dr. Banney is also a skin cancer surgeon.

David Banney is also conducting the Sydney Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006.
