David Yow is an American musician. He co-founded the Austin, Texas rock group Scratch Acid. Yow originally played bass guitar, then switched to singing before Scratch Acid relocated to Chicago, Illinois. When that group dissolved, Yow co-founded a new group, the now defunct band The Jesus Lizard. He was notorious for playing shows completely drunk and incoherent. It was not uncommon for David Yow to remove his clothing during Jesus Lizard concerts, ending up completely naked by the second or third song during that night's set. Considered a very charismatic man during a live performance, audience members where known to be hysterical during shows. Yow's latest band The Jesus Lizard eventually landed them a spot on the Lollapalooza tour with little commercial success. Yow, however continues to be cited by many aritsts (particually those involved in underground music) to be a main source of insperation to this day.
