| Doug Sandom (193?-????) was the original drummer for british rock band The Who. Early in the bands' career, while they were playing as The Detours, around mid 1962, Sandom, a bricklayer, joined as drummer. However, as the other members of the group were in their late teens, Sandom was already in his late twenties. His experience as a drummer was helpful early on, but the difference in age eventually made him something of an outcast in the group. When The Who auditioned for Fontana Records in early 1964, Pete Townshend, who did not care for his drumming, suggested that Doug leave the group, which he did that April. The legendary Keith Moon soon filled the opening in the band.
