| Ernest "Boom" Carter is an American drummer, who was a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band for six months in 1974. He played a number of concerts during that stretch and was the drummer on the recording of the classic song "Born to Run". Future E Street drummer Max Weinberg later said that Carter devised a jazz fusion part on that record that Weinberg could never reproduce in concert, and eventually stopped attempting. Carter left the E Street Band along with pianist David Sancious to form the band Tone.
