| Francis Monkman is a successful composer of film scores whose work includes the soundtrack to the British film The Long Good Friday. He was born in 1949 and was a student at Westminster School, later becoming a member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. In the late 1960s and early 1970s he was in the groundbreaking progressive rock band Curved Air, 1977 in the short lived, critically acclaimed project 801. In the 1980s he formed, together with John Williams another progressive rock band called Sky.
