Musicians - Frank Bello

Frank Bello replaced Dan Lilker
on bass guitar in Anthrax, a thrash metal band, on the Spreading the Disease album. He was warmly received by the band's fans, who enjoyed his energetic stage presence and inventive bass style. He played fast, but with feeling that is generally lacking in heavy metal music. Bello generally played with his fingers, using a pick on occasion such as Anthrax's cover of Jackson Brown's "Got The Time". He held the bottom up for the band along with Ian's massive crunch, but Anthrax often employed guitar squeals and their vocalist Joey Belladonna had a high-pitched singing style. After leaving Anthrax in early 2004 Frank joined forces with Helmet - another NYC-based band. Frank has since reunited with the "classic" Anthrax line-up, consisting of himself, Scott Ian (guitar), Joey Belladonna (vocals), Charlie Benante (drums--also Bello's uncle), and Dan Spitz (guitar).
