Harold Faltermeyer (born October 5, 1952 in Munich) is a German musician, composer, and producer.

His best known pieces are film music for The Running Man and the "Axel F" electronic piece for Beverly Hills Cop. The tune is very recognizable, and has been covered by numerous artists. It was recorded using three instruments: a Roland Jupiter 8, a Roland JX-3P and a Yamaha DX7.

After contributing as a session keyboardist for producer/composer Giorgio Moroder, Faltermeyer captured the zeitgeist of 1980s synth-pop, arranging, producing, and playing on albums and singles by international pop stars Laura Branigan, Jennifer Rush, Alexis, and others.

He won a Grammy Award for Best Album of original score written for a motion picture or television special in 1986. He recorded an LP called Harold F. With Steve Stevens, Faltermeyer was also involved in producing the well-known, and now archetypal, music for Top Gun, including the famous "Top Gun Anthem", which opens the film.

A remix of the classic "Axel F" reached number one in the UK charts in May 2005 after being remixed with the Crazy Frog ringtone.
