Hiroki Tsurumoto (born in Fukuchiyama, Japan, on July 3, 1976) is a Japanese composer of classical music. A former student of Amnon Wolman
, Tania Leon, and John Corigliano
, Tsurumoto's music that departs from the system of tonal hierarchies that are said to characterized the sound of classical music.

He has worked in several projects, some of them outside his music composition studies. His pieces include Corkscrew, Spoon, Water in Trees, ¿Dónde está la máquina de coser?, and Wet Tiles. Moreover, as the Brooklyn College Guitar Ensemble’s resident composer he wrote a piece for six guitars, Chutes and Ladders.

Prior to his career as a composer, he played the Technitone at Victor Technics Music Festivals. Hiroki Tsurumoto was also invited to take part at the Fukuchiyama Music Festival for two consecutive years. Furthermore, he won several prizes including nationwide finalist and a first prize at a regional competition for playing A Night on the Bare Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky, two second prizes at a regional competition for In the Steppes of Central Asia by Alexander Borodin and La Forza del Destino by Giuseppe Verdi
, and a third prize at a regional competition for Finlandia by Jean Sibelius
.

All his pieces have been publicly performed. In 2003, Cathal Murphy performed Corkscrew. His third piece, Spoon, was performed at the Composers' Concert at Levinson Recital Hall, Brooklyn College. Cellist Justin Kagan, contrabassist Stephen Sas, and Pianist César Reyes performed ¿Dónde está la máquina de coser?. The Brooklyn College Guitar Ensemble performed Chutes and Ladders twice, including their annual recital. Besides, Theodore Vazakas performed Corkscrew at the Conservatoire National de Strasbourg, France.

In 1998 Tsurumoto composed a piece for piano and voice for a short film titled Missing. This film was starred by Miki and Yoko Orita, the latter was also the producer and playwright. In 2003 he composed a piece for an independent film titled The Little Shtimmer produced and directed by Lilly Posner and starred by Kevin Bakry, Hannah Goss, and Shirley Kezra. The Little Shtimmer received the New York Women in Film & Television Emerging Female Filmmaker Award at the Brooklyn College Film Festival, New York (June, 2004). In addition, it was awarded 1st prize at the Dragon Con Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia (September, 2004) and was nominated at the International Family Film Festival in Valencia, California (April 23-29, 2004).

He is currently the resident composer for the Brooklyn College Orchestra and Theo Chamber Music Group in Athens, Greece.
