Holly Sherwood is an American rock vocalist best known for her work with producer/rock composer Jim Steinman
, providing both lead and backing vocals. Her voice is very distinctive of having an incredible operatic range and being somewhat husky.

Broadway

Holly was a child actor at an early age on Broadway, with leading roles. She worked with Irving Berlin
, Richard Rogers, Leonard Bernstein
and Andrew Lloyd Webber
. Besides her work with Steinman, she has recorded backing vocals for Barbra Streisand
, Billy Joel, Kenny Loggins, Barry Manilow
, as well as performing with Joe Cocker and Arlo Guthrie.

Godspell

In 1972, she sang the song from the Rock opera musical Godspell on Broadway. Her version rose to position on the UK and Billboard .

In the 1970s, she performed a duet with Leonard Coleman Boone called "There's No Me Without You".

Jim Steinman

In 1983, she performed backup vocals for Bonnie Tyler
on the Jim Steinman produced album Faster Than the Speed of Night. Beside the background vocals for other songs on the album, she performed the vocal wail at the end of the title song, which is a true testament of her vocal capacity.

Fire Inc.

She sang with Bat Out of Hell veteran Rory Dodd
in the Fire Inc.
that was put together by Jim Steinman for two songs in the "Rock & Roll Fable" movie Streets of Fire. Her performance for the two songs "Nowhere Fast" and "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young" were dubbed in the movie by Diane Lane
. These two songs did not achieved any significant commercial success.

Pandora's Box

She was the lead singer on the track "Good Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)" that was released on the album Original Sin by Pandora's Box
, a group formed by Steinman in 1989.

In recent years, Holly owns an art gallery called Sherwood Gallery, where she among other things sells jewelry with prices ranging from $10 to $10,000.
