John Reis (b. 1969) is a highly prolific singer/guitarist who was a member of Hot Snakes and Rocket From The Crypt among other bands. He is currently a member of The Sultans. Reis was also a member of influential post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu and its precursor Pitchfork as well as Conservative Itch, Back Off Cupids, Stacatto Reads, Custom Floor and Beehive and the Barracudas.

In 1999 Reis released a solo recording under the name "Back Off Cupids." This release is markedly different sound from anything else he had released.

Reis was born and raised in San Diego, California, and has lived there his whole life. Reis has been an active participant in the San Diego underground music scene. In 2000 Reis also started Swami Records which has released a number of San Diego bands, as well as reissues of classic punk records. Reis has also produced and recorded a number of bands such as Superchunk, Selby Tigers, Go Go Go Airheart and The Red Onions. He also currently hosts the "Swami Sound System" on radio station 94.9 KYLD in San Diego.
