Johnny Others is the bass player and main songwriter for the band The Others. He was born in Bedford but grew up in Brighton. After taking two years out after A levels he went to University of Brighton to study Cultural and Historical Studies and spent his student loan on a 12 track digital studio to write and record his own songs on.

After graduating with a 2:1 he spent a year or so doing creative writing and music reviews for a living as well as working casually as a promotional field worker. In 2002 he founded the band The Others with long time friend Jimmy Lager and James les Mesurier and Dominic Masters. By 2004 they released their first single (now with a new drummer Martin Oldham)on Poptones records and signed an album deal with Mercury Records in September of that year.
