Musicians - Lee Michaels

Lee Michaels (born November 24, 1945 in Los Angeles, California) is a keyboardist and vocalist. He is most famous for the 1971 top ten hit Do You Know What I Mean?. He ultimately lost much of his hearing from his famous habit of walking out at the beginning of perfomances and running his hand across the dials on the huge amplifiers that ran to his organ. In the 1970's he was getting paid $20,000 a performance. An enormous amount for the day. Michaels dropped out of the music scene and moved to Hawaii.

Lee Michaels also has two sons, one of whom is in the marketing industry in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. He divorced Mary Hughes, Californian model. Currently Michaels owns a chain of restaurants, Killer Shrimp, in Southern California.
