Luc Plamondon (born March 2, 1945) is a Québécois song lyricist. His important international success has earned him the title of Most popular and Greatest lyricist of the Francophonie.

Profile

Plamondon has written for many artists, notably the Québécois Diane Dufresne
, Robert Charlebois, Céline Dion
, Ginette Reno and Garou, as well as the French Julien Clerc, Nicole Croisille and Johnny Halliday. He is the co-author of a number of musicals. The two most successful are Starmania and Notre-Dame de Paris. Also of note is Cindy: Cendrillon 2000. He is a Quebec sovereigntist and is against internet music piracy.

Honours

  • In 1990, he was made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec.
  • In 2002, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
