Musicians - Maria Teresa Agnesi

Maria Teresa Agnesi (October 17 1720-January 19 1795) was an Italian, classical composer, harpsichordist, singer, and librettist. As a small girl, she performed mostly in her home. Around 1739 (when she was 19 years of age) though, she performed in public. Her public performances consisted mainly of Jean-Philippe Rameau
's works for harpsichord, along with some of her own works. Charles de Brosses heard her and was very impressed. Her first performed work was "Il restauro d'Arcadia" (cantata "pastoral") in 1747 within Milan's Ducale Theater. In 1766 her Insubria consolata was performed in Milan on the engagement of Beatrice d’Este and the Archduke Ferdinand.

Maria Teresa's older sister Maria Gaetana Agnesi became a fairly famous mathematician.
