Mike Vax is a jazz trumpeter. He has played with many great musicians, including Art Pepper
, Freddie Hubbard, and the Glen Miller and Jimmy Dorsey
Orchestras. He claimed the role of lead trumpet in the Stan Kenton Orchestra and the Stan Kenton Alumni Band. He tours Europe and the United States to provide clinics for young trumpeters trying to learn jazz and classical music, such as his clinic at the 2005 Reno Jazz Festival.

He is an International Artist for Yamaha and plays on trumpets, flugelhorns, cornets, and mouthpieces of the Yamaha Corporation. He designed trumpet-related products for Yamaha. The Yamaha MV Signature trumpet features monel pistons, a lightweight and hand-hammered one-piece annealed bell (laser-fused), hand-lapped pistons and slides, pressure-formed tubing, one-piece gold brass leadpipe, and a heavyweight body.
