Musicians - Miriam Yeung

Miriam Yeung Chin-wah (楊千嬅) (born February 3, 1974) is a Hong Kong actress and Cantopop singer.

Before entering the entertainment business, she was a registered nurse at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong. She studied at the Kowloon Holy Family Canossian College. She entered the entertainment industry after coming in third in the TVB 14th annual New Singer competition in 1995, and has steadily gained popularity ever since.

Miriam is managed by Gold Label.

Singing Career

As a singer, Miriam has had many songs that have been mainstream hits and award winners, such as "Sorry, I'm an Aquarius", "Maiden's prayer" and "Small City and Big Issue". "Small City and Big Issue" won the awards in 2004 from four major TV/radio award ceremonies. Among the awards were "Most popular female", "My favourite female singer", and "Female Singer Golden award".

Early in her career her songs had the view point of a young lady. However, in the last few years, Miriam describes her songs as havin

Film Career

As an actress, Miriam normally performs in comedy films often as a young, silly, and clumsy girl. For example, in one early film, "Love Undercover", she plays a newly graduated police officer who fails every test as a cadet. She tried different roles to good reviews both in 2003 and 2004. In "Sound Of Colors" co-starring Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Miriam plays a blind girl who finds love in a surprising and unexpected way. The next year, she tried a darker role, in "Three...Extremes: Dumplings." Miriam plays Ching, a former TV actress, who fears growing old, and losing her looks and her cheating husband. She seeks out Mei (Bai Ling), who tells Ching her dark secret to staying young, which is revealed to be eating stillborn fetuses prepared in dumplings.

In Miriam's latest film, "Drink-Drank-Drunk", she co-stars with Daniel Wu for the third time. She is said to be concentrating more on her music career in 2005, which is the reason she was only in one film that year.
