| My Heart Belongs to Daddy is a song written by Cole Porter in 1938. A staple of the American songbook, it has been recorded by a huge number of singers, from Ella Fitzgerald to Marilyn Monroe. It was introduced by Mary Martin in the musical Leave It to Me, which had music and lyrics by Porter and a book by Bella and Samuel Spewack. The song contain's one of Porter's more obscure lyrics, one of several rhymes for "daddy" - in which the singer talks about her "fine finnan haddie," a Scottish term for smoked haddock.
