	Musicians - Nick Warren

Nick Warren is an English trance DJ and producer. A number of his mixes have been released as DJ-mixed compilation albums including the famed Global Underground series. He is a member of electro/prog duo Way Out West. Currently, he is head honcho of the progressive house and breaks record label Hope Recordings.

Warren has come to be mentioned int he higher esherons of house and electronic music, alongside such figures as John Digweed, Sasha and Dave Seaman to name but a few. He made the well-trodden journey from trance to progressive trance to progressive house, and his numerous Global Underground relases are a faithful indicator of his progression and maturity as a top DJ. Indeed GU has enjoyed almost uninterrupted focus from Warren - his non-GU relases are few and far between, his outings on the established Back to Mine and Renaissance series being the only notable ones. His relases are charactertised by an intellectual feel whilst still being able to really rock a crowd, a phrase that has come to be overused and might be better reserved for the few DJs who really know how to do it. Demonstrating this, his latest GU, Shanghai, is an unhurried look at modern progressive house, using an internationally-flavoured tracklisting of mostly unsigned artists.

It's really a great surprise that he should choose to showcase unsigned, unheralded artists in his sets. Warren sees his role as producer as one of offering a voice to the unheard-of artists around the world who struggle to obtain recognition in a tough music industry.
