Musicians - Ray Ellis


Ray Ellis is a music producer, arranger and conductor. The orchestration for Billie Holiday
's Lady in Satin is perhaps his best known work in the jazz vein. Ray arranged many hit records in the 1950's and 60's. Included are classics such as "There Goes My Baby" by the Drifters; "A Certain Smile" by Johnny Mathis; and "Standing On The Corner by the Four Lads. Ray's work encompassed all areas of music, from records to film, commericals, and television. TV themes include 1974's "NBC News At Sunrise w/Connie Chung and the "Today Show." Music scores would include the the original cartoon series Spider-Man. In the early 60's Ray had a contract to produce his own easy listening record albums with Rca Victor, MGM, and Columbia, the most popular probably being "Ellis in Wonderland." Ray currently resides in Los Angeles.
