| Richard Leigh (Born 1951 in Washington, D.C.) is an American country music songwriter. In 1978 he received a Grammy Award for "Best Country Song" for "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" (it was nominated in both pop and country categories and reacher number one on both charts). Leigh was raised in Virginia, and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1994 Leigh was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Foundation Hall of Fame. Crystal Gayle, Billy Dean, Mickey Gilley, Kathy Mattea, Reba McEntire, Steve Wariner, Don Williams are all prominent singers who have brought Richard's songs to number one on the charts over the years.
