Sophia Dussek née Corri, later Moralt (b. Edinburgh, May 1, 1775; d. London, 1847) was a Scottish singer, pianist, harpist, and composer of Italian descent. In 1792, she married the composer Jan Ladislav Dussek. Modern-day musicologists believe that some of the works that were published under her husband's name and historically credited to him, including the famous sonatas (1797) and sonatinas (1799) for solo harp, were actually her creation. Following Jan's death in 1812, Sophia married the violist John Alvis Moralt. The couple lived in Paddington, where she founded a music school.Reference[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Sophia Dussek ] Some related entries: Dennis Alcapone | Robert Cray | Gilbert Rowland | Danny Breaks | Vetiver | Susana Seivane | The 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic | Carl Allen | Maria Elisabetha Lämmerhirt | Lord Cam | Sylvia Kirby This page is based on the copyrighted Wikipedia article Sophia Dussek; it is used under the GNU Free Documentation License.
