Musicians - Sophia Dussek

Sophia Dussek née Corri, later Moralt (b. Edinburgh, May 1, 1775; d. London, 1847) was a Scottish singer, pianist, harpist, and composer of Italian descent. In 1792, she married the composer Jan Ladislav Dussek
. Modern-day musicologists believe that some of the works that were published under her husband's name and historically credited to him, including the famous sonatas (1797) and sonatinas (1799) for solo harp, were actually her creation. Following Jan's death in 1812, Sophia married the violist John Alvis Moralt. The couple lived in Paddington, where she founded a music school.
