Taiji Sawada (沢田泰司 Sawada Taiji) was the bass guitar player of the popular Visual kei Japanese Rock band X Japan.

Throughout his career Taiji has worked with bands such as X Japan, Loudness, Cloud Nine, and most recently (as of 2004) is playing in a band called Otokaze, with his sister.

After his departure from X Japan in late 1992, Taiji had a lot of money troubles and as he stated in his autobiography; it was "a very dark time" for him, often leaving him with nothing but his motorbike.

The death of X Japan's guitarist hide in 1998 was a big shock to Taiji, and since that time, he has struggled to pull himself to his feet again.
