| Tom Linton plays guitar in the American rock band Jimmy Eat World. Born August 8, 1975 in Mesa, Arizona Linton formed Jimmy Eat World with childhood friends Jim Adkins, Rick Burch, and Zach Lind. On the earlier albums, Tom wrote several songs and performed lead vocals on them; after Clarity, however, all songs have been sung and written by Jim. He named the band after a drawing created by his younger sibling. In this drawing Linton's sibling had drawn his brother, Jimmy, eating the world with the heading "Jimmy Eat World." This drawing indicated that Jimmy was obese enough to eat the world.
