Tony Ashwin Kanal (born August 27, 1970 in Kingsbury, England) is the bassist for the US band No Doubt.

Tony first experienced mainstream sucess in No Doubt's 1995 album Tragic Kingdom, which brought hits such as "Just A Girl", "Spiderwebs" and "Don't Speak".

Early Years:

"Tony Ashwin Kanal" was born in Kingsbury, England on the 27th of August 1970, he is the bassist for the US band No Doubt. Tony and his parents are of East Indian decent. At the age of 11 in 1981, Tony and his parents moved to Orange County, California.

Joining No Doubt:

In March 12, 1987, No Doubt played their first 'official' gig at Fender's Ballroom in Long Beach, California. At the time Tony was a high school junior and was one of the few hundred in the audience watching the show. Chris Leal the bands former bassist had already left and they were in desperate need for a new one. . Sometime shortly after Tony tried out and the band accept him. Even though he has no previous experience of being in a band, has long hair and is wearing mexican sandals.
By the summer Tony became the bands unofficial manager.

Kingsbury Studios Label

28th March 2006:
Tony Kanal is to be launching his own record label this spring called 'Kingsbury Studios'. The first debut album will be from reggae artist Elan Atias. Due May 23, Together As One features the Gwen Stefani duet All Nighter plus collaborations other artists such as:Assassin,Tami Chynn, Sly & Robbie and Cutty Ranks as well as Kanal himself.
