| Tui St. George Tucker (b. California, 1924; d. Boone, North Carolina, April 21, 2004) was an American composer. She moved to New York in 1946, working as a composer, conductor, and performer on the recorder. Her compositions often feature microtonality and are strongly influenced by early music. In 1944 she founded the Camp Catawba for Boys, located near the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Boone side of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and spent her summers since 1947 as the camp's music director. She is named for the tui, a bird native to New Zealand, where her mother was born. Discography
