| Yuri Shevchuk (Юрий Шевчук) is a Russian singer whom evolves in the rock and roll band DDT he created in 1981. Shevchuk was born and raised in Ufa, Russia, though he now resides in St. Petersburg, Russia. Shevchuck was an art teacher before founding the rock group DDT. Shevchuck is best recognized for his somewhat gravely and distinctive voice. His lyrics detail points of Russian life. His concerts are usually punctuated with large amounts of singing alonging by the audience to the widely known and popular lyrics.
