Daxter is a PlayStation Portable video game by Ready at Dawn that stars Daxter of the Jak and Daxter series. It was released in North America on March 14, 2006.

Story Line

The game's storyline takes place during the last few months of the 2 years that pass between the end of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
and the beginning of Jak II
, when Jak is arrested by the Krimzon Guard in Haven City. It begins inside a bar, where Daxter is bragging to the patrons about his so-called "adventures". Of course, this leaves very little impression on his audience, except for a old man who sees the Daxter's potential and offers him a job as an exterminator. Daxter accepts the job and the gameplay begins. The story progresses very little throughout most of the game, as not much happens until the last hour or so, when Daxter actually sets out to rescue Jak. The lack of focus on a story has led to some criticism. Daxter does meet a handful of characters, though few of them give him more a few objectives and tasks. However, in the last hour or so, the game fills in plenty of gaps in order to lead into Jak II
, it even throws in some small twists for those familiar with the story of next game.

Weapons

Due to his new job, Daxter is now equipped with a bug swatter, which acts as his melee weapon, and an extermination tank which when fired stuns enemies for a few seconds or until attacked. The tank also doubles as a type of propulsion, and will eventually receive several modifications including flamethrower and an ultrasonic attachments. Each new mod allows Daxter to hover higher and longer in "jet pack" mode.

Features

The game connects with Jak X
, allowing the player to unlock extras in both games. The extras unlockable in Jak X: Combat Racing include four new playable characters in exhibition mode and a new vehicle called the 'Daxtermobile'.
