Dragon Force is a strategy-based video game from Sega created for the Sega Saturn. It was created in Japan and ported to the U.S. by Working Designs in 1996. Dragon Force spawned a Japan-only sequel in 1998 and the first title has now been re-released on the PlayStation 2 as part of the Sega Ages series.

The game starts with choosing a leader. The player goes through a few cutscenes to introduce the character and the chosen kingdom's history. Then they proceed to the three main types of gameplay. One type is the overworld gameplay. In this part, the player control their troop movements and decides which generals they want to occupy each castle/town. A second gameplay type occurs when two generals from opposing sides collide, whether in a base or in the open. The battles involve two sides, each containing 1-5 generals and certain troop types for each (up to 100+1 per side). Players select starting formations/movements, each with strengths and weaknesses, and then the fight begins. During the fight, players can continue to switch formations and movements based on results (unless all-out is chosen, in which players lose control of the troops). During this time, players can also attack the enemy with their general's super moves. These moves all consume magic points and have varying results, from attacking all enemies to attacking an enemy line to targeting their general. Once a general is defeated, the defeated party will either choose to flee or pick a new general (or simply lose if they have no more generals).
