Final Fight 3 (Final Fight Tough in Japan) is the third game in the Final Fight
series. Like Final Fight 2
, Final Fight 3 was exclusively for home systems, and was not released in arcades. This game introduces two new characters; Lucia Morgan and Dean.

Story

Following the Mad Gear gang's defeat in Final Fight 2, a gang war erupted in Metro City, with the Skull Cross gang eventually reigning supreme. Guy returns to Metro City following his training and meets with Mayor Haggar. The Skull Cross gang then detonates a bomb and incite a riot in downtown Metro City, freeing their leader, Black, from prison. Joined by Metro City Special Crimes Unit officer Lucia Morgan and a mysterious street fighter named Dean, Guy and Haggar fight to take down the Skull Cross gang.

Playable Characters

Dean

Characteristic: Powerful, but a bit slow.
Sure-Kill Technique: Electric Shock
Weapon of Preference: The hammer, which he electrifies before throwing.
Special Ability: Distance grab, which allows Dean to grab enemies from farther than anyone else.
Super Move: Scrap Dunk. Dean bodyslams an opponent, picks them off the ground, jumps with them and slams them, electricfied, again from great height.

Guy

Characteristic: Fast, but slightly less powerful.
Sure-Kill Technique: Bushinryuu Senpuu-Kyaku or Warrior God Style Hurricane Kick
Weapon of Preference: Nunchuks.
Special Ability: Off-the-wall jump. Guy can use walls or vertical planes to launch himself towards opponents with a kick that has longer reach and high priority damage.
Super Move: 1,000 Fist Barrage. Guy hits an opponent with a bevy of punches to the midsection, finishing with a burst of ki from his palm.

Haggar

Characteristic: Very powerful, but very slow.
Sure-Kill Technique: Spinning Clothesline
Weapon of Preference: The steel pipe.
Special Ability: Haggar uses his wrestling prowess to execute air throws.
*Back Flip Drop: Grabbing an opponent from behind, Haggar leaps in the air with the enemy, then drives them into the ground head first.
*Spinning Piledriver: Haggar grabs an opponent, leaps several feet into the air and spinning with him on descent, smashes him down on the ground for massive damage.
Super Move: Final Hammer. Haggar executes a series of devastating wrestling throws on his enemy.

Lucia

Characteristic: Very fast, but very weak.
Sure-Kill Technique: Hurricane Spinner.
Weapon of Preference: The billy club.
Special Ability: Lucia attacks with only kicks, giving her the longest range of the four heroes.
Super Move: Hard Hit Knee. Lucia executes a series of devastating kicks, ending with a ki attack that ingites her enemy.

Gameplay

The game's engine is greatly modified from that of its predecessors. Special moves with button combinations mimicking Street Fighter commands were added into the game, as well as a meter that awarded devastating "super moves" when filled. Players could also grab opponents from behind, much like rival series Streets of Rage
. A dash feature was also added. Players had weapon combos with their weapon of preference instead of a single power blow. However, if a player used any weapon other than their weapon of preference, it would be used with a single power blow. Additionally, the game's stages feature several multiple routes. Surprisingly, this game has no balanced character like previous Final Fight games, all the players have an advantage in either speed or power.

Trivia

Final Fight 3 is the easiest game in the Final Fight trilogy, perhaps due to its retooled game engine.
As one of Capcom's last SNES releases, Final Fight 3 was not made in high quantity. As a result, it has become much harder to find in both the US and Europe, with prices occassionally rising into the triple digits. The Japanese variant of the game is also expensive and arguably even harder to find.
