Front Mission 4 is a video game developed and published by Square Enix that was released in Japan on December 18, 2003 and in the US on June 15, 2004. It is a Strategy/RPG in which the player assumes the role of two characters, both of which pilot large mechs known as Wanzers.

This is the 4th installment in the Front Mission series, the first of which to be released on the Sony PlayStation 2 video game console and the second of which to be released in North America, the first being Front Mission 3.

Story

There are two storylines that later become interwoven in the game.

Upon the beginning of the game, you play as Elsa, a new recruit for the E.C.'s Armored Tactics Research Corps, A.K.A. The Durandal. The other teammates consist of Zead, Hermes, Latona, Bosch and Beck .

Later into the game, the other storyline is introduced, that includes a group of AWOL U.C.S. soldiers named Darril, Renges, and Chaeffer. They later join up with Luis , Ines and Thammond members of 'La Alianza de Libertad Venezolana'', of which Luis is the leader.

The story is presented starting with Elsa's group, with the focus shifting to Darril's group at certain points in the game. The two plots eventually cross. The story is delivered through voiceovers (in English for all regional versions of the game), a first for the series.

Gameplay

The gameplay resembles most other strategy games, but with some new additions.

Wanzers can be configured in a variety of ways. Body arms can be equipped with melee or ranged weapons. Legs can be configured to be two or four legs or hovering. Auxiliary weapons can be either machine guns, shotguns, rifles, bazookas, clubs, pile drivers, knuckles, shields, missiles, rockets, grenade launchers, EMP packs, jump jets, sensors, radios, and various healing packs.
