Video games - Galaxian3

Galaxian3 is a arcade game released by Namco in 1990. It is a walk-in style arcade game run on a hybrid of Laserdisc and traditional Arcade hardware. The arcade uses two synchronized Laserdisc players to create the pre-rendered backgrounds of the game, and each player takes the role of one of six stationary gunner positions defending a spaceship against an onslaught of enemy ships. Each player shares the same life meter.

  • The arcade cost $150,000 (USD). It's dimensions are W: 16'7", D:16'4", H:8'.
  • There was also a version of the game that used a 120" wide display utilzing twin projectors and seated 26 people simultaneously in a hydraulic gaming area.

Ports

The game was ported to the Sony Playstation in 1995
