Golden Tee (formerly Golden Tee Golf) is a golf arcade game series by Incredible Technologies. It is a popular fixture in American sports bars. A player can play either nine or eighteen holes, against other players . One can choose from a variety of different courses with different themes and levels of difficulty. During each shot, the player has a full selection of clubs and direction of the shot. Unlike most arcade games which merely appeal to children and teenagers, "Golden Tee" is generally more popular with young adults and adults.ControlsThe game is unique in that it requires a player to use a trackball which determines the power and distance of each golf swing. This adds an extra dimension of physical skill some arcade games do not require.The later versions of "Golden Tee" include a protective rubber guard strip and a written notice warning players not to use excessive force when spinning the trackball. In some incidents, players have cut open their palms in their determination and enthusiasm to generate a powerful drive. Some players have even tried using WD-40 lubricant on the trackball believing it would aid the distance of their shot, but in many cases this would cause them to lose control of the direction of the shot. "Golden Tee Live" allows players to compete for cash prizes versus players from all over the country and post their records through an online connection. This allows a player to play alone and still compete against others.
