Video games - Kirby's Dream Land 3

Kirby's Dream Land 3 (星のカービィ3 - Kirby of the Stars 3 in Japan) was a video game released for Nintendo's Super Nintendo / Super Famicom in November 1997. Kirby's friends from Kirby's Dream Land 2
- Rick the Hamster, Coo the Owl, and Kine the Fish- were still present in the game and it introduced three new characters. These characters were Chuchu the Octopus-like creature, Nago the Cat, and Pitch the Bird. All of Kirby's six friends give his abilities unique styles and ways of attacks. Kirby and his companions travel around Popstar in six levels in the pursuit of obtaining heart stars and defeating Dark Matter. Kirby's Dream Land 3 also marked the first appearance of Gooey (technically, his first, true appearance was in Kirby's Dream Land 2, but this game marks when Gooey was first given a name, a starring role, along with his blue color and signature tongue ability) a character with all the same powers of Kirby that can be controlled by a second player. Apparently, Gooey is made of the same material as Dark Matter, which is illustrated during the truly final fight; he grows spines similar to the Dark Matter boss when he obtains the final ability. Gooey recently appeared as an unlockable trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee
.

Kirby's Dream Land 3 was not only the last 16-bit Kirby game to be released, but was also one of the last games of the 16-bit era in North America. Kirby's Dream Land 3 is part of the Kirby's Dream Land series.

Trivia

Samus Aran, from the Metroid series, appears in this game at the end of a stage. She will give Kirby a Heart Star (all are required to purge the Hyper Zone and obtain its ability to face the true final boss, Dark Matter) if Kirby freezes all the Metroids before meeting her. She will also take her helmet off if Kirby completes her mission.

Professor Hector from Robot Gyro
and Robot Block
(AKA Gyromite and Stack-Up) appears as well. He will help Kirby with a Heart Star if he reassembles R.O.B.

There are many other cameos, but this is missed for audiences outside of Japan as not all of their debut games were only in Japanese, like Disk System games.
