Nobunaga's Ambition (original title, Nobunaga no Yabou) is a 1988 turn-based strategy game by Koei, focused in the Sengoku period of the history of Japan. It was published for a series of platforms, including DOS-compatible personal computers, Amiga, NES, Game Boy, Sega Genesis and the SNES. It was the first of a series of five games where the player has the objective of repeating the feat of Oda Nobunaga, unifying Japan under one flag, whether with him or any of the other daimyos present in the game, and part of the Historical simulation series of the Japanese company.

The game has four pre-made scenarios: Battle for the East (starts 1560), Daimyo power struggles (1560), Ambition untamed (1571) and Road towards unification (1582). In each game, the player has to balance between creating a strong army for both defense and attack, economy to support town and army growth and the happiness of peasants. The whole game is played in turns, each turn in the map view corresponding to a season, during battle to a day. Battles are decided by either forcing the enemy to retreat, destroying their command unit of stale positions until one of the armies run out of supplies, forcing it to quit.
