Video games - Rayman Arena

Rayman Arena (Rayman M in the United Kingdom) is a multiplayer party game developed and published by Ubisoft. It consists of two modes: an arena fighting mode, and a racing mode. It is a 1-4 player game, or you can play with 1 player vs. the computer. There are three levels of difficulty: Beginner, Pro, and an unlockable Master. There are also 4 cups to be won in both the Battle and Race modes. Rayman Arena features 8 different characters:

  • Rayman
: The hero of this land. Uses his hair to glide.
  • Globox: Rayman's dimwitted friend. Bloats himself up to glide.
  • Teensies: Two senile old dwarves that work together in a race. One spins the other around his head to glide.
  • Admiral Razorbeard: The short, robotic admiral of the evil robot pirates. Spins his arms around to glide.
  • Hunchman 800: A robot pirate. Uses the jet on his back to glide.
  • Tily: A small, furry fairy. Uses her wings to glide.
  • Hunchman 1000: An older model of the robot pirate. Uses the jet on his back to glide.
  • Razorwife: Razorbeard's awful wife. Flaps her arms around to glide.
  • Dark Globox: On the Xbox, you can unlock him. He's just like Globox but he is purple with a skull and crossbones on his back.
Rayman Arena was released earlier in the UK as Rayman M which meant it was only available on PC and PlayStation 2. The box art shows Rayman with Rayman M on his fist, while Globox struggles behind him in a race.

Rayman Rush

The racing segment was released separately for PS1 on March 1, 2002, under the title of Rayman Rush.

The PC Version

Similar to the console version, Rayman Arena PC also has 4-player battles in the single player mode which was not in the consoles. But Dark Globox is not found here, nor Dark Rayman.
