Video games - Unreal Championship

Unreal Championship, or "UC" is a first-person shooter video game co-developed by Epic Games and Digital Extremes. It was published by Infogrames and released on November 12 2002 for the Xbox. Unreal Championship is essentially a console version game of the IBM PC compatible-based Unreal Tournament
series, developed specifically to take advantage of Xbox Live, Microsoft's online gaming service. During development Epic Games decided to port this game to the PC as Unreal Tournament 2003
(or UT2003), which actually got released before Unreal Championship. In 2003 Unreal Championship was added to Microsoft's "Platinum Hits" line of Xbox games. It was followed in 2005 by Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict
also for Xbox.

Game modes

  • Deathmatch
  • Team deathmatch
  • Capture the flag
  • Double Domination — In Double Domination your team must control two points on the map. Holding both locations for a certain period of time gives your team a point.
  • Survival — 1 v 1 deathmatch played with multiple persons. After someone wins the Deathmatch another player gets put into the game. The person who gets to the predetermined score first wins.
  • Bombing Run — Bombing Run can best be described as Unreal-style football where the player gets the ball and has to take it into enemy territory and score in the enemy forces goal. Players can pass to other teammates. Getting killed causes you to fumble the ball.

Differences between UT2003 and Unreal Championship

This list shows the differences and changes made between the PC and console version:
  • The guns looks and sounds are different
  • Characters' names have been changed, although their histories stayed the same
  • Characters from different species have slightly different stats (jumping height, speed, health, etc.)
  • There are less characters in Unreal Championship than in UT2003
  • Graphics quality has been increased for UT2003, although this depends on the graphic card in the PC
  • Unreal Championship's production started first
  • In both games a FMV starts showing Thunder Clash, the current best team. In UT2003, all team members but Malcolm are playable, as he is the Championship Champion
